development / Construction

The construction phase lasted about 14 years, while most work was only in winter. While my father took care of the technical side, I focused on the landscape in the hand. On the Open frame design was not used to form with the tracks, but models using foam or Styrodur blocks. Then came a Moltofill layer from which the Ferlsen were filled.
images from earlier phases I have not found yet. The construction phase

lasted about 14 years, while most work was done in winter only. While my dad did the electrical work, I focused on the landscape.
On the open frame with the tracks, styrofoam blocks were used to form the mountains. On that we put a layer of moltofill to model the rocks.
I coudn't find pictures of earlier stages of construction yet.

Als der Güterbahnhof noch Baumgerippe beherbergte...

When the freight train area still hosted bare trees...

Ein wichtiger Moment: das Grass wird geplanzt.
Mit einem Fön wurde es auf das Leim-Farb Gemisch geblasen. Durch statische Aufladung im Fön blieben die kleinen Härchen aufrecht am Leim kleben.

A very important moment: we start planting the gras.
With a hairdryer it was blown onto glue mixed with paint. The hairdryer made the little hairs stand up as they hit the glue. Dont ask me why, it has something to do with static hair....

Hier kann man sehen das eine Anlage ohne die vielen Kleinigkeiten noch ziemlich unnatural acts. This view shows that

a Model Train still looks quite unnatural without all the little details.

LockSchuppen without the natural proliferation.

The Turntable without its wild vegetation.

Our first attempt to irrigate the lake have failed catastrophically:
There was a chemical reaction under high heat and everything was looking ...

Our first try to water the lake did not work out at all: A chemical reaction
turned everything white, emitting quite some heat ...

so we had to put him back "out" again ...
Even when the next attempt with other material it should not work, but the third time. Even if it was "leaking", luckily we had enough liquid.

and thats why we had to "take it out again ...
The next try with different materials should not work either, but the third time.
Although it was then "leaking", luckily we had enough liquid.
